Solo – Nur Ferry Pradana and Putri Aulia competed on the second day of the 2022 ASEAN Para Games Solo in para-athletics sport at the Manahan Stadium in Solo. The married couple both presented gold medals for Indonesia.
On the first day, Putri Aulia won gold in the women’s 100 meters T13 category, while Nur Ferry also won gold in the men’s 100 meters T47 category.
T13 is the category for visually impaired athletes, their vision is limited to a radius of fewer than twenty degrees, and/or the ability to recognize a tennis ball-sized object up to five meters. While T47 is for athletes with a below elbow or wrist impairment.
On the second day, Putri competed in the 200 meters category and managed to record the fastest time of 26.63 seconds. This record is faster than when she won gold at the 2017 ASEAN Para Games Kuala Lumpur with 26.86 seconds.
Meanwhile, Nur Ferry, who competed in the 200 meters T47 category, also won a gold medal after beating opponents from the Philippines, Thailand and Cambodia.
“I am very happy, it is very special because we got this medal after we had an official tie (get married),” said Ferry after the match at the Manahan Stadium, Tuesday, 2 August.
At the 2021 Papua National Paralympic Week (Peparnas), Nur Ferry and Putri, who both represented North Sumatra, won one gold each.
After winning two gold, Ferry and Putri also still have the chance to bring home another gold medal at the 2022 ASEAN Para Games Solo, Wednesday, 3 August.
Ferry will compete in 400 meters category, while Putri will compete in the long jump. He is still targeting to win a third gold again. Likewise with Putri.
If both of them succeed in presenting three gold medals, this achievement will certainly be a sweet memory for this couple. For Putri, this is the last ASEAN Para Games before she undergoes a pregnancy program.
